Anglers will be encouraged to bring their own casting gear, jigs and poppers and any light tackle gear that they might want to bring along.
Note: All fish will remain the property of the boat.


Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 (Thursday or Monday)

New Zealand anglers

  • Depart Auckland DJ 179 at 7am arrive Tonga 9.50am
  • Auckland anglers meet at the airport and transferred to Domestic terminal for flight to Vava'u
  • Depart Nuku'alofa 12.30pm arrive Vava'u 1.20pm
  • Meet at the airport and transferred to Hakula Lodge

Australian anglers

  • Depart Sydney DJ 183 at 3.40pm arrive Tonga 11.10pm
  • Meet at the airport and transferred to Winnies Guest house
Day 2 (Friday or Tuesday)
  • Auckland anglers - depart Vava'u weather permitting head south along the Southern bank to the Ha'apai islands
  • Sydney anglers - after breakfast picked up and transferred to Domestic terminal for flight to Vava'u
  • You have 3 flights to choose from 6am, 11.30am & 2.40pm flight time 55 minutes
  • Meet at airport in Vava'u and transferred to Hakula Lodge
Day 3 (Saturday or Wednesday)
  • Sydney anglers - depart Vava'u weather permitting head south along the Southern bank to the Ha'apai islands
  • Auckland anglers - jigging and casting in the Ha'apai islands
Day 4 (Sunday or Thursday)
  • Jigging casting in the Ha'apai Islands
Day 5 (Monday or Friday)
  • Another early start fishing new location for Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo and Giant Trevally
  • Midday and afternoon bottom fishing on seamounts for Snapper, Coral Trout and Bass
Day 6 (Tuesday or Saturday)
  • Land based casting while we refuel in Ha'apai
Day 7 (Wednesday or Sunday)
  • Return to Vava'u trawling for Marlin Sailfish back up the Southern bank
Day 8 (Thursday or Monday)

New Zealand anglers

  • Depart Vava'u your choice of 3 flights 7am, 12.30pm or 4.30pm
  • If you take the am flight you will have all day in Nuku'alofa to tour around (we could arrange a land tour in Nuku'alofa to fill your day at your cost)
  • You are welcome to stay at Hakula lodge for a late check out and catch the last flight to Nuku'alofa
  • Depart Nuku'alofa DJ178 11.59pm arrives Auckland 1.59am Friday or Tuesday

Australian anglers

  • Depart Vava'u 7am arrive Nuku'alofa 7.55am
  • Meet at the domestic terminal and transferred to International
  • Depart Tonga DJ182 12.10pm arrive Sydney 2.55pm
